Hersheys White Chocolate Bliss Peanut Butter Cookies
A couple of nights ago I was in the mood to make peanut butter cookies. Unfortunately, this urge came to me at about 9:00 pm! So I needed a recipe that was super fast and reliable, so I chose the classic peanut butter blossom recipe that you stick the hersheys kisses in right out of the oven! But instead of hersheys kisses, I wanted to mix it up a bit. So I went downstairs to get a few snickers bars out of our vending machine (yes, we do have a vending machine and yes, it is totally ghetto and yes, our kids and any kid for that matter, LOVES it)!!! I noticed the "Snickers" section was empty so I went to our "secret stash" closet and it was void of Snickers also. Hmmm...puzzled I went into ask Kimble (my babe/hub) where all of the Snickers had disappeared to and he confessed to giving in to our 3 year old son every time they would come downstairs to hangout!;) Apparently Ace has a MAJOR thing with Snickers! I admit it's hard to say "no" to the Lil' Guy so I couldn't really blame Kimble!:) My idea was to slice the candy bars up and stick em in the dough! Yum right??? Well, with that idea out the window it was onto plan B. I found some Hersheys Bliss white chocolate meltaways in the pantry and figured they would work just swell! And work they did!!! The soft and creamy white chocolate was a pleasant addition to this well known cookie! By the way, did you know that there is actually NO such thing as white chocolate?? Technically, for something to be labeled as "chocolate" it has to have cocoa beans in it! Which white chocolate does not! White chocolate does have cocoa butter in it, which gives it a similar texture to chocolate! And chocolate brands around the globe decided to give this wonderful white goodness the nickname white chocolate! So there's a little Friday factoid for ya!
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
Ingredients:
Cream together:
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
Add and mix in:
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add and mix in:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar. Then place on an ungreased cookie sheet and into the oven for 8-10 minutes until slightly golden. Stick whatever candy you desire in the center of each cookie right out of the oven! Makes approx 48 small cookies!
Note: I know traditionally these cookies are rolled in granulated sugar, but our Mom has been rolling them in powdered sugar for years and it is sooo good! It gives the outside of the baked cookie a sort of light and buttery coating!

Yum!! Sounds and looks delish!
ReplyDeleteAh crap, you just settled a months-old bet between Lance and me, and it looks like he's the winner. Luckily I get to eat my words, and they will still be delicious, even if they're not technically chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! Every time you post a dessert, I just HAVE to try it. No wonder I can't get to my pre baby size!
